Rio Ferdinand has blasted Manchester United players due to their 2-0 defeat to top four foes, Newcastle United on Sunday,
Ferdinand said the players are now loosening up, thinking they have done enough already after their Carabao Cup success.
Manchester United were defeated 2-0 at St. James’ Park, with goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson. They are now relegated from top four after Tottenham’s 1-1 tie with Everton on Monday night.
Erik ten Hag’s side’s form has lowered since winning the Carabao Cup in February, comprising a 7-0 defeat at Liverpool and a goalless draw against bottom-of-the-table Southampton.
“It seems like they’ve won the Carabao Cup and downed tools. They think they’ve done enough; that’s what it feels like.
“We were looking in a perfect position [to finish in the top four]. Now it’s a lottery because no one’s got any real vein of form at the minute,” he added.
Manchester United hopes to return to triumphing ways in their next game on Wednesday night when they play Brentford.
