France’s team ensured a win against Ireland despite the late shock from Ireland. The team went to Ireland to face the Boys in green, after an outstanding display against the Netherlands. They were not as aggressive as against the Dutch, but they got the job done for their second win in two games.
The second half was where the magic transpired. Ireland started fine, but France got control and instantly redressed their opposition for daring to attack. Benjamin Pavard finished off a sweeping team move to give France a 50th-minute lead.
The game went in favour of France all through the game. France had more of the ball but could not make a second goal.
They tried to secure a win, even when the Irish turned up the heat late in the game with brutal attacks, France’s new number one, Mike Maignan, ensured they were never breached.
