D’Tigers rank number 1 in Africa despite the World Cup loss

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tige rs, has the number-one-ranked team in Africa.

The International Basketball Federation disclosed the latest rankings of the national basketball teams.

The latest rankings come after the final round of qualification games for the 2023 FIBA World Cup later this year.

Earlier this month, D’Tigers, led by Head Coach Ogoh Odaudu, led a team full of Nigerian basketball players to participate in the final round of qualification games for the FIBA World Cup.

The D’Tigers are 19th in the FIBA rankings.

D’Tigers needed to win all three games to have an opportunity to qualify for the most prominent national basketball tournament in the world.

The team started well with a shock triumph against an unbeaten Ivory Coast side.

They then recorded a comeback victory against Guines in the second game.

Against the host country Angola in the final qualification game, the D’Tigers crumbled as their World Cup hopes were dashed in a blowout loss.
