David Otto, an independent Global Counter-Terrorism consultant, said today on Arise Tv that the constitution does not allow for an interim government, as the country isn’t at war and the elections have already taken place.
Otto says that the plot the DSS has announced is for a coup. In his words, “The DSS statement alleges the possibility of a coup plot, an unconstitutional or illegal takeover. The 1999 constitution leaves no room for an interim government. This is a serious allegation by the DSS, and they certainly know more than they have revealed.”
Various voices have denounced calls for an interim government, particularly voices amongst the ruling party. At the same time, those in opposition have vehemently denied any connection to a plot to install an interim government.
