The Supreme Court has granted FGN’s application to bring additional charges against Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
A five-person panel of the Apex Court delivered this ruling after hearing arguments from both parties.
Nnamdi Kanu’s legal travails have continued since he was allegedly forcefully repatriated from Kenya. Despite an order for his release, the Department of State Services has held him since then while they try to bring additional charges against him.
Mr. Kanu’s lawyer made an application for bail, noting that his client was seriously ill. As a result. the lawyer requested that client be, in the meantime, transferred to Kuje prison, where he can receive proper medical attention.
In response to this, the Attorney General moved for an adjournment. The court granted the application for adjournment and adjourned the case to 11 May 2023.
