The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has deployed a new Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Yakubu, to the Kano State Command in preparation for the 2023 general elections. The previous Kano CP, Mamman Dauda, has been redeployed to the Plateau State Command.

Additionally, the following deployment also occurred in Kano State Police Command:

CP Ita Uko-Udom to Kano Central Senatorial District.

DCP Adamu Ngoji and DCP Abdulkadir El-Jamal have to Kano South Senatorial District.

DCP Abaniwonda Olufemi to Kano North Senatorial District.

NewsUP Reporter observed that the deployment is for the upcoming elections. The Kano State Command’s PPRO, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the changes. In a statement, the Kano State Police Command expressed gratitude to the people of Kano State for their cooperation and support. The Command is committed to ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent, and prosperous 2023 general election.

The redeployment of Mamman Dauda to Plateau State occurred shortly after the New Nigeria People’s Party accused him of working with the Kano State government to obstruct the party during the election period. The ruling All Progressives Congress also expressed concerns about Dauda’s conduct and his lack of action against criminal elements within the NNPP.
