Statement from a Priest
In a statement released on Sunday, April 30, the delegate of superior confirmed the incident, which reads:
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, it’s with great pain and concern that we come to you with this sad notice. Our brother Fr. Chochos Kunav, Schoenstatt’s father, lives and works in Ibadan. However, he travelled to Warri yesterday to visit his friend Fr. Raphael Ogigba of the Catholic Diocese of Warri and the parish priest of St.Francis Agbara Otor, Ughelli, Delta state.
Unfortunately, after a short visit to the priest in a nearby parish, Fr. Chochos Kunav and Fr. Rapheal Ogigba were kidnapped last night on their way back to the Parish of Fr. Rapheal. The incident occurred on the road, in front of Ibru University Agbara Otor.
We ask for intense prayers for quick and safe release. May Jesus the high priest and good shepherd care for his priests, and may Our Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Shoenstatt intercede for them.
As of when this report was filed, the kidnappers haven’t contacted for a ransom yet.
Providing more details of development, the DSP of the Delta state Police, have assured a prompt response in trailing the kidnappers.
