A Catholic Priest under the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin, Edo state, identified as Reverend Father Charles Igechi, has been killed by unknown assailants.
According to the Archbishop of Benin, August Akubeze, in an issued statement, Fr Charles’s remains were found by the boundary street in Ikpoba Hill, in Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday along the Agbor road, Ikhueniro axis of Benin, on his way back to his place of assignment.
The assailant attacked him when he returned to his place of assignment. They made away with his car and mobile devices.
Fr. Charles was ordained on the 13th of August, 2022. Before his death, he was the Vice Principal of St Michael’s College, Ikhueniro.
Archbishop Abueze said: “The security agencies are working on the case. We pray that the perpetrators of this evil act be brought to the face of Justice”.
