Wike Commended Court’s Judgement on Ayu’s Sack

Nyesome Wike, former Governor of Rivers State, commended Makurdi’s High Court for upholding the sack of Iyorchia Ayu, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said the arrogance of the party’s former leadership led loss of the party in the last Presidential election.

The crisis in the PDP seems not to have ended. Several months to the election, some key governors demanded the resignation of the party’s national chairman. However, this was not the case, as the party refused and continued. This birthed the party’s faction known as the G5 Governors, who have vowed not to support the party’s presidential candidate until the PDP forces their chairman to resign. The case went to court, and finally, a court in Makurdi, Benue State capital, upheld the sack of Ayu as the party’s national chairman.

In an exclusive interview with the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike who expressed his mind on several issues, including the demand for the sack of the party’s national chairman and subsequent failure to claim the 2023 presidential seat. Wike said he does not regret his action, which led to the formation of the G5 Governors.

During the exclusive interview session, Wike said PDP should be blamed for poor performance during the poll. There are consequences for lack of preparation. The former Governor openly supported the APC National candidate, and if given any opportunity to serve in any capacity, he would see it as a call to national service.
