Orji Uzor Kalu cries while giving his valedictory speech at the end of the 9th National Assembly Session. The former Governor of Abia State and a Senator in Abia expressed his best moments in the 9th Assembly of the Senate. He acknowledged today as the beginning of a new friendship for all the members of the Senate. He appreciated his constituency for voting him into Senate.
During the speech, his presence at the Senate gave him a better understanding of what Nigeria stands for – to fight more for a united Nigeria. He believed, “We are dispersing and not separating ourselves.” He acknowledged that he went through one of the best times in his life in the senate and, at the time, went through one of his most difficult periods.
Before I came into the Senate and politics, I could buy anything money can buy. I’m not a thief. Those that put me in prison know the reason. They took over my businesses and wanted to kill me, but I survived it.
This is not the end to what we have done, not the end to uniting Nigeria, and both the end to Brothers’ keeper. He appreciated the Vice President visiting him weekly while he was in prison.
This country is not fair to so many of us. I built this country and employed 13800 workers. Some people who built nothing were not asked for their source of wealth. I have three factories in Lagos, two in Otta, and three in Aba.
I leave everything in the hands of God. He will judge!
