IBB to Tinubu: Unite Nigeria with all your Political Skills

Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, the former Head of State, wishes the new President well in the new administration. During a one-on-one interaction with Arise TV, the former Head of State described President Tinubu as a skilful Politician. And therefore advised that his political skills should be used to unite a polarized Nigeria.

IBB also acknowledged that Nigeria is rich with many Economic Experts who serve other countries and requested that President Tinubu brings them together to help and manage our country’s economy. Also, he advised as the President and Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces should take a good look at the Armed Forces to re-orientate and re-train them. He needs to do that because the Armed Forces have gone through a lot of processes that need to be put together and make efficient use of them.

According to IBB, other areas should include Public Service with good re-orientation and re-organization. He believed that Tinubu’s Political skills could be used to effect changes in Nigeria. In response to the question on any advice for his opponents at this time, he said they are all Nigerians. So, whatever anybody does for the good of Nigeria should be accepted.

How do you Access the Evolution of Nigeria since 1999?

The evolution is good, but there are lots of mishaps in the process. We should try to concentrate on issues that are good for the country and the people. We should judge and access people based on credibility, background and knowledge.

Also, in response to a question on what can be done to enhance our electoral process with regard to what we experienced in the last election, he advised Electoral Reformation. Voters’ Education needs improvement. Considering the low turnout of Voters in the last election, where the votes were less than the registered voters. At least, we should have got up to half of the registered voters, and where that is not possible, there is nothing wrong in doing a re-run.

He also expressed concern that there is too much work on INEC. Rather, we should allow the institutions responsible for Public Enlightenment / Education. The body responsible for public education should be allowed to do the Voters’ Education.
