Senator Dino Melaye has been declared a Kogi Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 Governorship primary winner in Kogi State. The primary election took place in Lokoja, where he defeated eight (8) other participants with 313 scores.
The other participants include Wada Musa Atayi, the former PDP governorship candidate in the November 2019 Kogi governorship election, who won 56 votes.
This contradicts the expectation of Wike, who never wished PDP would present Dino Melaye as a candidate for the Kogi state governorship election.

Dino Melaye will contest against the ruling party, All Progressive Progress (APC) candidate, Usman Dodo on November 11, 2023. The current APC Governor Yahaya Bello endorsed Ododo a few days ago.
