We Must Put An End To Involving The Courts In Our Electoral Process – Falana

Human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN), in an interview on Arise Tv, has expressed no confidence in the electoral results being overturned.

“Going by Nigeria’s history, I’m not pessimistic that the election results can be overturned. It will depend on the evidence.”

The lawyer noted the number of court cases resulting from the concluded general elections, saying,” it is disturbing that we involve the judiciary in our election. Nigeria has the highest number of pre-election cases globally.”

Falana said he had expected that by now, with enough reforms to the electoral system, Nigerians would take the courts out of the electoral process. He said, ” We cannot continue to involve the judiciary in the election of the representatives of our people, and we must put an end to it.”

“it should be a matter of concern to all genuine forces of democracy and all stakeholders,” said the SAN.
