Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has lent his support to the call for the televising of the presidential election tribunal proceedings. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Falana joined NBA National President Yakubu Maikyau in urging live airing of the proceedings.
Falana believes that televising the proceedings will increase transparency and put the judiciary in a positive light.
He also stated that since everyone is part of the election, the court’s decision should not be shrouded in secrecy. Falana emphasized that televising the proceedings would enhance judicial credibility and urged authorities to consider this advise seriously.
“It is in the best interest of our judges and the public. Furthermore, it enhances the credibility of the judiciary,” Falana said. “I am very sure that the suggestion will be seriously considered.”
