Sowore Slams Presidency Over Calls of Treason.

Omoyele Sowore has condemned the Nigerian government’s accusation of treason against Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

In a statement, Sowore berated President Muhammadu Buhari and his Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, for the allegation, which was made in response to Obi’s comments about the outcome of the 2023 general elections.

During his official engagement with international media organizations in Washington DC, United States, Mohammed accused Obi of inciting violence and acting like “a desperate person” for seeking redress in court over the election results. Sowore, however, believes that the government’s allegation of treason is baseless and an attempt to silence opposition voices.

Sowore further stated that the government’s actions were undemocratic and a threat to the country’s stability.

He called on President Buhari to focus on addressing the pressing issues facing Nigeria, such as insecurity, unemployment, and corruption. He should stop targeting political opponents with false accusations.
