In a statement released on Wednesday, Senate President Ahmad Lawan congratulated President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima on their election victory. Lawan said this victory demonstrates the Nigerian people’s trust in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates.
The Senate President noted that the election was hard-fought, making the victory all the more significant. He congratulated the APC and its supporters across Nigeria and democracy lovers worldwide.
He added that the victory is a challenge to the party to continue progressing Nigeria in line with its agenda, as endorsed by Nigerians through their votes. Lawan expressed confidence in Tinubu and Shettima to competently deliver on the Compact for Renewed Hope presented during the campaign.
Finally, Lawan praised President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring a level playing field for all contestants and respecting the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
