The Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi has surprisingly reversed his previous stance regarding the 2023 presidential election result.
Initially, he had said that he would only challenge the process that brought about the announcement of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu as the winner and not the declaration itself. However, during an interview on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Monday morning, Obi stated that he would now challenge both the process and the outcome.
In a tweet()s=20 posted to his verified Twitter handle on Monday afternoon, March 13, 2023, Obi confirmed that he is at the tribunal to contest the election result. He emphasised that the process through which people come into the office is far more fundamental than what they do afterwards.
“I’m challenging the process (through) which they arrived at their declaration,” Obi explained. “There is a process of doing things, and there is a process of arriving at any point. If you’re going to be called ‘His Excellency’, the process of coming to that position must be excellent.”
