PDP Spokesperson Denies Alliance with LP in Lagos

The Lagos State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it is not in talks with the Labour Party (LP) towards a possible alliance ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections. It made this announcement in a statement issued by the Lagos PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Amode, on Monday.

Amode debunked claims attributed to the Labour Party Candidate, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of discussions with “the real owners of PDP structure in Lagos State”. Mr. Amode described the statement as disrespectful to PDP.

Mr. Amode emphasized that no single individual could lay claims to the ownership structure of the PDP. According to him, only the State Executive of PDP is recognised by the National Body.

The governorship flag bearer for PDP is Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor). His running mate is Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.

PDP has not had successes in Lagos State, having failed to produce a governor since 1999. With the rise of Peter Obi as presidential candidate of Labour Party, other candidates in LP have enjoyed improved goodwill.
