Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has rejected the calls by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, for the people of Anambra State to vote for his party’s House of Assembly candidates. In a meeting with National and State Assembly candidates of the Labour Party in Anambra, Obi urged the assembly candidates to work with Soludo upon their election.
Reacting to the call, Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr Chris Aburime, described it as deceptive and meant to lay landmines for Soludo. Aburime stated that Obi could not discuss development in Anambra while asking the people to elect lawmakers from the opposition party to work with Soludo. He added that the call was meant to deceive the people of Anambra.
Aburime also urged the people of Anambra to vote for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming House of Assembly election if they wanted the developmental strides of the current administration to continue. He said that the Anambra people had supported Obi during the presidential election but would vote for APGA in the House of Assembly election.
Soludo and Obi have been having a running battle on the choice of lawmakers in the next session of the Anambra House of Assembly.
While Soludo is fighting to have the majority, if not all, members of the 30-man assembly, Obi wants to assert himself by using his influence to cause more lawmakers in the community.
Obi won about 92 good cents of the votes cast in the Anambra State during the recent presidential election, showing his dominance in the state.
