Obi out of PDP: I’m not responsible, say Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has refuted claims that he was responsible for Peter Obi’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP). This statement comes after Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, alleged that Obi left PDP after a meeting with Lamido, where Lamido insisted that power would remain in the north in 2023.

However, Lamido denied the claim, stating that both Doyin Okupe and Obi can attest that Wike’s statement is false. In a Facebook post, he said, “Suffice it to say that Peter visited me along with my friend Doyin Okupe and they are both alive to attest to the veracity of this claim.”

Governor Wike stated that Lamido told Obi that the north would produce the next president, leading Obi to leave PDP.

However, Lamido’s denial suggests that the claim was unfounded.
