Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, on a podcast hosted by Channels Tv’s Seun Okin, has called Obasanjo’s defence of the igbo at the Soludo’s one-year in office as Governor of Anambra State hypocritical. Former President Obasanjo spoke about his history with the governor in the financial sector of Nigeria and said that two of his best appointments have been of igbo heritage.
Sowore disparaged those sentiments, saying,
“This is a guy who went to the east and shot people dead because they wanted Biafra. Obasanjo and others went to the east and killed millions of 3.5 million Igbos with no apology”. A reference to the civil war.
Mr Omoleye said that the Elder statesman was playing on the intelligence of the igbo people and propping himself up as a defender of the civil rights of the Igbo people. He said, “I don’t know anybody else who has killed more Igbos than Obasanjo.”
