Naira Marley’s Advise to Muslims during Ramadan

Nigeria Singer Naira Marley has urged his fellow Muslim brothers against betting during Ramadan.

The singer noted this on his official Twitter account @Nairamarley, where he criticized his brother-in-Islam for stopping betting. He told Muslims to abstain from sports betting and sure odds in this bright month, chastising them to fast.

On Wednesday, March 21, the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, president of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), declared that the holy fasting month of Ramadan would begin in Nigeria on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan, is observed by Muslims all over the world as a period for prayer, fasting (sawm), introspection, and community. This period is dedicated to abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and sexual relations in order to improve one’s relationship with God.

Muslims fast from immediately before the Fajr (sunrise) prayer to the Maghrib (sunset) prayer every day of the month.
