Murtala Yakubu, National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been suspended by the executive members of his constituency in Ward 1, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The suspension letter, signed by 27 executive team members, including ex-officials, accused Yakubu of gross insubordination, anti-party activities, unguided statements, and running a parallel party structure that encourages factionalism. Yakubu, who is also a member of the National Working Committee of the APC, was accused of organizing a parallel rally against the Presidential Campaign Council directive in Ajaka Ward 1.
In response to his suspension, Dr Ijeoma Arodiogbu, a member of the NWC and Vice Chairman for APC South East, was surprised and stated that Yakubu had shown a lot of support for the party. However, he explained that the local ward would write the state chapter explaining the offence (s), which would then send correspondence to the zone and intimate the NWC.
Yakubu’s suspension is effective immediately, and the APC is urging the state and National Secretariat to endorse the resolution with the necessary action.
