Michael Aondoakaa Speaks on Abuja and Section 134

Michael Aondoakaa, former Attorney General of the Federal and Minister of Justice, speaks Presidential Poll: Abuja and Section 134. Some legal scholars believe not having two-thirds of all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja nullifies the Presidential election result declared by INEC, and would form the trust of what happens at the Election Petition Tribunal.

According Aondoakaa, wishes to draaw the attention to the reading of a document, the requirement of the a law. The constitution is a document and for you to get the true intention of a particular provision of the constitution; for instance, Section 134 you have to read the entire constitution in reference to other provisions of he constitution. That is where you get the true meaning.

Michael Aondoakaa further explains what the constitution says with regards to the 36 states and the Federal Capital territory. The section clearly explains what the States, the local governements and area councils mean. The section stated:

“Nigeria should be a federation consisting if states and the Federal Capital”. Explaining further on the importance of the “AND”. The consitition also listed the 36 states of the federation. The consitution clearly specify the meanings of: the the States, Local government and the areas of Federal Capital. There is no mix-up on the definition of the Federal Capital and States. The rule of the interpretation is that what is what is specifically mentioned in the constitution, in a document and what is not mentioned is excluded.
