In a statement released on Wednesday, the Department of State Services (DSS) revealed that certain political actors had uncovered a plot to disregard the constitution and install an interim government in Nigeria.
However, in an interview on Politics Today on the same day, IPAC Chairman Yabagi Sani called for the DSS to provide more details about the plot and take action against those involved.
The message to DSS
Sani expressed his disappointment that the DSS had only announced the plot without naming the individuals involved or taking action against them.
He stated,
Sani also called for law enforcement agencies to demonstrate that nobody is above the law. He urged to take decisive action against those plotting against democracy in Nigeria. He cited the example of the United States, where action was taken against individuals who sought to interfere with the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
Presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in 2023 election, Yabagi, also emphasized the need to protect democracy in Nigeria. He called on security agencies to take swift action to prevent threats to the country’s democratic system.
In summary, Sani Yabagi has called for the DSS and other law enforcement agencies to take more decisive action rather than just making public statements about the threat.
