Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the Labour Party Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, has spoken out against INEC’s decision to postpone the 2023 governorship and State Assembly election.
Okonkwo expressed his disappointment and stated that it was shameful that INEC could not adhere to the election schedule. He stated that despite receiving a large sum of money from the federal government.
In a statement released on his Twitter account, Okonkwo criticised INEC for its incompetence and criminality in the postponement of the election.
He noted that INEC had been given 306 billion naira to organise the election within schedule but failed to meet up. This led to the postponement of the governorship and house of assembly elections to March 18th.
The decision was made because 11 days after the presidential election, results still need to be fully uploaded to BVAS IREV Portal and Server. And contestants still need access to verify the results.
