Kaduna State Gov’t Reinstate 1,288 Sacked Teachers

Kaduna State government has announced the reinstatement of 1,288 public school teachers. The teachers were previously sacked after a competency test in June 2022. According to the TVC News report, the reinstatement will help to fix the challenge faced by low teachers to meet increased enrolled pupils in primary schools in the state.

The Kaduna chapter of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) has commended the state government of the affected members. This will help bridge the gap in the teachers-pupil ratio experienced in the public primary school sector.

Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board initially sacked 2,357 primary school teachers based on competency tests last year. 2,192 teachers were dismissed for their failure to sit for the test, while 165 were sacked for poor performance.
