The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) just announced the postponement of the governorship election by a week. The exercise, initially scheduled for this Saturday, will now occur on March 18.
The National Commissioner & Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Barr. Festus Okoye confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday night.
According to Okoye, the commission needed time for the reconfiguration of the BVAS used for the Presidential election held on February 25, 2023. He explained that the BVAS could only be activated on the exact date and time of an election.
Therefore, the commission needs to reconfigure the BVAS for activation on the governorship and State Assembly elections date.
