INEC Suspends Collation In Enugu And Abia States

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has called for the cessation of collation in Enugu and Abia states. Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the information and voter Education committee at the National Situation Room, ICC Abuja, explained the reason for the suspension of the collation of election results in Enugu on Monday.

He reminded that thugs invaded the Commission’s office in Obingwa Local Government Area on Sunday and took its officials hostage to try to coerce them allegedly. Reports from Enugu call for a review of the results of the governorship elections from two local government areas, Nsukka and Nkanu-East.

Okoye added:

“Consequently, the Commission forthwith suspends the collation of results in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and the two outstanding Local Government Areas of Enugu State which are yet to be collated. A review will be begun immediately before the process is finished.”
