Victor Giwa, National Coordinator and Advocates for People’s Rights and Justice, in an interview on Arise TV has denied INEC’s grounds for declaring the Adamawa election inconclusive and rescheduling elections due to “overvoting.”
The legal practitioner argued that INEC official should have declared the results as it was because “in those local governments that he mentioned, according to him and according to the collation officers, the elections were cancelled as a result of over-voting, so where elections are cancelled as a result of over voting, under the rules. You don’t go back and reschedule another election, and there are specific conditions that require rescheduling another election, and this is not one of them.”
He alleged that there were INEC officials who “out of manifest compromise or out of dictates from other places have refused to follow simple guidelines, guidelines that they designed”O
