Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), recently expressed his doubts about the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its ability to conduct free and fair elections in Nigeria.
In an interview that took place at his polling unit(), Abubakar raised questions about INEC’s performance in past elections and called for measures to improve its operations. “Let’s hope they can improve on their past performance, but I’m not hopeful because I have not seen measures taken to improve their past performances.”

Abubakar’s concerns are shared by many Nigerians who have expressed a lack of faith in the electoral body’s ability to provide a credible electoral process. With governorship elections going on, there is a growing awareness and unease about the reports of electoral malpractice and rigging.
Abubakar went further to state that INEC’s past performance fell below expectations. He emphasized that the Nigerian people deserve a transparent and credible electoral process and called on INEC to take concrete steps to improve its operations and build confidence among voters.
