I’ve Lost Confidence in The Courts Lately – Agbakoba

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba, said as much in an interview on channels television(). He references the past, saying that back then, one could usually see how a court case would go when faced with facts of a court case. The law veteran noted that the supreme court was unpredictable these days.

He exemplified that unpredictability with the case of Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President who, despite losing in previous courts, won back his mandate in the supreme court. He called the judgment:

“silliest judgment” he had ever heard. He also references the case of the Governor of Imo state.

In summary, Agbakoba said,

“I cannot forecast the outcome, I have the legal tools and the factual issues, so if computed, I know what answer it will give me, but I’m not part of the panel, so I don’t know if the justices will see it as I’m seeing it, but I can tell you the answers are very glaring.”
