Senator Magnus Abe, the Social Democratic Party(SDP) in Rivers state had much to say in an interview he granted on Arise TV. The senator accused the outgoing Governor, Nyeesom Wike, of attacking his supporters with the help of the police.
Responding to comments made by the Governor, saying that the senator was not a serious candidate who wasn’t prepared and just wanted the honourable mention of being named amongst those vying for office, the senator had this to say “speaking of being serious. Yes, I was not prepared for war, just an election. In a serious election, it is the government’s responsibility to provide an environment in which rivers people can vote; that did not happen.”
He accused the Governor of trying to discredit him and said his attacks were intentional.
The senator also said,
“I’m eminently qualified, and the river’s people know who won the election.”
