The Peoples Democratic Party Renewal Group in Oyo State has raised concerns over the promise made by the Governor. Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor made the promise to pass the baton to a successor of Oke-Ogun extraction in 2027.
In a statement by the group’s Chairman, Mr. Wole Adeduntan, the promise was described as “empty and deceitful.” Makinde had promised to hand over government to an indigene of Oke-Ogun in 2027, while seeking the support of people of the zone for his re-election.
Adeduntan urged the people of Oke-Ogun to look into the antecedents of all candidates and vote wisely. He also questioned the timing of the governor’s promise. Adeduntan is wondering if the promise was made in the realization that Oke-Ogun people may vote against him. He described the governor, the party’s governorship candidate, as “a well-known agreement breaker.”
Meanwhile, Accord Party Candidate for Oyo North Senatorial District candidate, Shina Peller, said that Oke-Ogun people had unanimously endorsed Makinde. However, Adeduntan noted that the PDP Renewal Group believes that the truth must be told at all times.
