G5: PDP Governors Wike and Ikpeazu to Support APC’s Tinubu in Presidential Election, Says Senate Chief Whip

Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Whip of the Senate claimed that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors, including Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) would support Bola Tinubu in February 25 presidential election.

Kalu also listed Imo, Ebonyi, Anambra, and Enugu as states where Tinubu is guaranteed to receive significant votes. The Senate Chief Whip stated that the G5 or Integrity Group, which includes some aggrieved PDP Governors, will work towards Tinubu’s victory at the polls on Saturday.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict, Kalu explained that Tinubu’s popularity in the North and his South-Western origin would aid his success at the poll as the All Progressing Congress presidential candidate. He also predicted that the G5 governors would significantly impact the 2023 presidential election outcome.

Kalu, the former Governor of Abia State, added that the internal crisis within the APC will not impact the party’s electoral performance. He expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the election convincingly, just as he did during the APC presidential primary election. Kalu praised Tinubu as a good administrator and a relief to the headquarters of entrepreneurs in Lagos, where he also resides. The senator emphasized that all presidential candidates in Nigeria live in Lagos and are business people there, with Tinubu residing in the centre of the nation’s entrepreneurs.
