Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has demanded the arrest and prosecution of Sam Amadi. Amadi is the former Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Chairman.
Fani-Kayode has called on the DSS and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to investigate Amadi for falsely using the picture of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, in a wheelchair. Amadi claimed that Ariwoola was going to London to meet with President-elect Bola Tinubu to discuss the 2023 presidential election.
Fani-Kayode tweeted on Friday, urging Amadi to be charged with defamation, criminal falsehood, and incitement. He said the picture should be printed on toilet paper and used to clean dirt. There were reports in circulation that Ariwoola travelled to London disguised as a physically-challenged old man in preparation for a meeting with Tinubu. These reports suggested that Tinubu wanted to gain the favour of the judiciary as his opponents sought to overturn his victory in the February 25 presidential election.
The reports claimed that Ariwoola was pushed in a wheelchair through the terminals at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to board a British Airways flight.
