Eze Ndigbo Titles: No Abolishment in Lagos State

The Lagos State government has debunked rumours that it has abolished all Eze Ndigbo titles in the state. Reports making the rounds on social media had claimed that the state government had taken such a step, but the government has described these reports as “April fool.”

The clarification followed the arrest of Eze Ndigbo, Ajao Estate after he released a video calling for an invasion of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) into Lagos to protect Igbo properties, particularly in markets across the state. IPOB was designated as a terrorist group after being proscribed by a court.

In the video, Eze Ndigbo, Ajao Estate, stated:

“We will invite IPOB to Lagos to protect our properties in Lagos and combat anyone against us. Let my voice go viral.”

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, denied the rumours of abolishing Nze Ndigbo titles in the state. He dismissed the reports as “April fool” and advised the public to ignore them.

Meanwhile, social media reports had claimed that “Lagos State Government, LASG abolishes all Eze Ndigbo titles in the State with immediate effect, warns all Lagos State Local Government Chairmen to be at alert.”

It is important to note that the Lagos State government has not abolished Eze Ndigbo’s titles in the state, contrary to what has been circulating on social media.
