European Union, via their Twitter page, has renounced the recently concluded elections in Nigeria.
Chief Observer Barry Andrews said, “Throughout the mission, we saw that Nigerians show a great appetite for democracy and are eager to engage in civic activities. However, in many parts of the country, their expectations were not met. We witnessed voter apathy, and this is a clear result of failures by political elites and INEC.”
The mission said it observed many incidents of thuggery. And intimidation of citizens, polling officials, observers, and journalists.
This statement from the EU has been received with mixed reactions by Nigerians.
