Electoral Materials’Inspection: Labour Party Reports_

The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council has reported progress in the ongoing inspection of electoral materials by their legal team at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to Yunusa Tanko, spokesman for the campaign council, the team has already collected some relevant documents at the INEC office, and the inspection is ongoing.

This comes after the Labour Party threatened to protest at all INEC offices nationwide if the commission did not grant its legal team access to the electoral materials used for the presidential and national assembly election. However, on Monday, the party’s meeting with the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, yielded positive results, with the commission granting access to the inspection.

Tanko expressed his satisfaction with the progress made, stating, “No matter how the case may be, at least we have started collecting some documents from INEC, which will help our case.” He also emphasized the importance of telling the truth: “In the process of looking for falsehood to cover up, you will make mistakes, and the truth will come out.”

The INEC chairman promised to give the legal team a schedule of how the inspection should proceed and provide all necessary support to prosecute their case. The campaign council hopes to gather all the required information and documents to support their case in court and restore the minds of Nigerian youths, who they claim have been damaged by the election process.
