Don’t Send Money to Then, Keyamo warns.

Festus Keyamo has urged the international community to be cautious of false claims that Nigeria’s presidential election was fraudulent.

In a tweet on his Twitter handle on Saturday, Keyamo warned that some Nigerians are using the claim of a stolen mandate to raise funds for ‘protests’. He called on the international community to refrain from giving money for the protest.

Keyamo wrote:

“A note to our international friends: some people here are deceiving you that a mandate was stolen to raise money to ‘protest’ the ‘stolen mandate’. We call it ‘419’ in Nigeria or ‘yahoo yahoo’. Please, stop giving them money, and many are already living big from such scams.”

The Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy, comprising Nigerians living in the United States, had earlier received permission from the US Department of the Interior to protest against the election outcome.

Their aim was to express the rejection of the election results and to present their Visa ban list to the White House, US Congress, and State Department on April 3, 2023, during their protest in Washington, DC.

The convener, Franklin Ekechukwu, disclosed that the protest aimed to express their displeasure and rejection of the election.

It is unclear if the group has ties to those Keyamo warned about in his tweet. He urged the international community to be vigilant of those making false claims about the election and avoid funding their activities.
