Disqualify Bola Tinubu – Peter Obi Tells Courts

Peter Obi has formally filed his petition to nullify the results of the elections held on February 25, 2023. He is requesting the court to repudiate the declaration of the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the winner.

Therefore, the lawyer representing Peter Obi stated in the petition that Tinubu was not qualified to contest for the presidency at the time of the election.

There are 4 Respondents:

  1. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 1st Respondent
  2. Bola Tinubu, the 2nd Respondent.
  3. Kashim Shettima, the 3rd Respondent.
  4. All Progressive Congress (APC), the 4th Respondent.

He also said that Tinubu did not get the majority of the legal votes cast at the election.

However, he petitioned the tribunal to determine that all the votes accrued to Tinubu and Shettima are not valid. So, neither Tinubu nor Shettima was qualified.

According to the petition, the 2nd respondent (Tinubu) has failed to score one-quarter of the votes in the federal capital territory, Abuja. Therefore, he (Tinubu) is not the president-elect of the presidential election held on February 25 2023.

Peter Obi is asking the tribunal to:

  1. Make “an order cancelling the election
  2. Compel the 1st respondent (INEC) to conduct a fresh election at which the 2nd respondent, 3rd respondent (Shettima) and 4th respondent (APC) shall not participate.”

As you can imagine, all eyes and ears are on the courts. Here is a link to the full petition:
