Declare us winner – Enugu PDP to INEC

The PDP Campaign Council has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially announce Dr. Peter Mbah as the state’s Governor-Elect of the March 18 governorship election. Therefore, PDP has cautioned the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, against engaging in do-or-die politics. While the PDP accepted its losses with democratic equanimity, the LP allegedly attempts to cancel results in areas where it lost.

The Director of Communications/Spokesperson for the PDP Enugu, Nana Ogbodo, issued a statement on Sunday:

stating that at the state election collation centre, the returning officer for Nkanu East LGA had announced that the PDP gubernatorial candidate received 30,350 votes in his hometown LGA, Nkanu East, while his LP counterpart received 1,855 votes to come in second. Despite winning 30,294 votes in Nsukka LGA, the LP requested that the results from Nkanu East be cancelled.

Enugu PDP Campaign Council

The PDP Campaign Council has urged the INEC to officially announce Peter Mbah as the Governor-Elect of the March 18 election in the state.

The PDP Campaign Council demands the immediate announcement of its candidate as the governor-elect for the state. In the statement, the party insists that the LP’s do-or-die politics will not be allowed to derail the democratic progress of the Enugu state. The LP candidate won the Governorship election in Udenu. Udenu is the local government of the residing governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the PDP did not complain. Also, the LP won the Enugu North senatorial seat against a sitting PDP governor in the February 25th election, and the PDP did not reject their victory.

The PDP Campaign Council claims that Edeoga militarised the election and forged election results in Isi-Uzo LGA, where he allegedly received 12,518 votes. They find it hypocritical that the LP accepts its victory in other areas but rejects the result where the PDP candidate received the most votes in his hometown and stronghold. The PDP Campaign Council has warned the LP to stop overheating the polity and accept defeat.
