In a thread of tweets, the Nigerian Police admitted to having popular tweep, Mr. Chude Franklin Nnamdi, popularly known as @chude__ in custody. They said the arrest took place in Onitsha, Anambra State on the 18th of March, 2023.
They said “he is being investigated by the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) Abuja, for cyberstalking, pursuant to a complaint received via a petition,”
Many members of society had publicly requested his release ranging from governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Frank Nweke Jr to Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi
The Nigerian Police further urged the general public to familiarize themselves with the Law saying
“we therefore urge members of the public to familiarize themselves with provisions of the law and be aware of the penalties for violating them most especially cybercrime laws with the new trends in the digital media space”
