CBN Funds Released for 2023 Elections – INEC Chairman Confirms.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, has confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released funds for the upcoming general elections. Yakubu made this statement during a press conference in Abuja.

The CBN released the funds after Yakubu met with the Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to discuss the need for cash to run logistical operations for the election. Yakubu stated that the cash requested had been received by INEC offices across the country, facilitating the movement of sensitive materials.

Yakubu also assured Nigerians that security agencies are on the ground to provide adequate protection for voters, staff, and observers. He further stated that the ban on using mobile phones and photographic devices in voting cubicles is still in force. The ballot boxes will be placed near the voting cubicles and away from party agents.

Newsedup reports that INEC has fixed the 2023 general elections for February 18, 2023.
