INEC took to Twitter today to make a press release about a rumour that had been circulating saying they had given the contract for the printing of sensitive electoral materials to a printing press owned by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
The press release signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, explained that the contract had been up for open competitive bidding and that Binani Printing Press was the bidder that won. After their due diligence, the contract was awarded to them.
The commission says that at no time was the senator listed as one of the directors of the printing press.
