Daniel Bwala has expressed concerns in an interview on Arise Tv about the influence the politicians have on the judiciary. Daniel Bwala is a Lawyer and Special Adviser to Deputy Senate President
He said the case before the court is clear, and the invalidity of the APC presidential candidate’s candidacy was evident under the provisions of the electoral act. The lawyer also pointed out that the president-elect did not score the majority of the lawful vote cast. He even said there was proof that at the time of the announcement of Tinubu as President-Elect, he had not qualified.
When asked by the reporter if he had faith in the judiciary, he said he has absolute faith in the judicial process but expressed doubts about this. Judging by the penchant of the APC government and their history, they will not allow the judiciary to act independently. They have shown that during the pre-election, election, and post-election periods. The President of Nigeria has also said, the victory of Tinubu has come to stay, which is a wrong statement and can unduly influence the courts.”
He said his only solace was the media attention of the world on the Nigerian judiciary. He feels that knowing the world as a whole was watching may induce the courts to act appropriately.
