APC suspends national vice chairman over alleged anti-party activities

In a bid to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining internal discipline and unity, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (North-east), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, over allegations of anti-party conduct.

It has been reported that the suspension letter was signed jointly by the ward’s vice chairman, secretary, and 16 other executive members of the party in the ward. The letter was directed to the National Chairman of the party by means of the acting state chairman and APC Yola North local government area chairman.

The letter accused Salihu of engaging in anti-party activities, gross abuse of office, and creating crisis within the party’s ranks at all levels, which could affect the party’s performance in the forthcoming general elections if left unchecked.

It read, in part: “Therefore, in compliance with the relevant provisions of the constitution of our great party, the working committee members have adopted and approved the suspension of Comrade. Mustapha Salihu for six months with immediate effect to serve as a deterrent to others in the future.”

While it is yet to be confirmed by any party or stakeholder involved, emerging reports suggest that Salihu may have engaged in friendly relations with Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State and a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
