Analysis of Bishop Kukah’s Message by Omatseye.

During the Tuesday Edition of TVC Breakfast, Sam Omatseye analysed the message of Bishop Kukah. The primary focus is his message on If Buhari feels fulfilled regarding the promises he made as his tenure ends.

According to Veronica Dan-Ikpoyi, the Anchor of the program, Femi Adesina has earlier responded by saying that:

“if Bishop Kukah is sincere to himself, he will know that some of the promises made have been addressed.” Femi, a Spokesperson to President Buhari, further stated that the insecurity in Nigeria has improved compared to 2015. He [Femi] said some of the Kukah’s statements are political.

Sam started by saying, “There is going to be a debate in years to come about Buhari’s legacy. The interesting thing about history is that those who live it tend to feel one, and those who live after tend to feel another way.”

He [Sam] gave more illustrations using the past leaders of Nigeria and the United States. “When Abraham Lincoln was alive, you need to see what the media said about him, and he was eaten alive by the media, despite his fight to re-unite the United States during the civil war. Later, the same man is now regarded as the best President ever lived in the United States.”

Also, there were discussions about the legacies of Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.): Some said he was weak, and others said he brought great infrastructure development and united the country.

In the case of Buhari, it is interesting that Bishop could speak like that. Others, including Prof. Wole Soyinka, have reacted to Buhari’s departure as President. Soyinka said Buhari would leave on a sad note related to currency and fuel scarcity issues.

Remember, talking about saving lives is the main area Bishop Kukah is pivoting his submission on. The country is not where we were in 2015 when Buhari took over. Abuja was not safe, and Kano was under perpetual siege. Boko Haram was only a mile away from the state house in Maiduguri.

According to Sam, Buhari has performed greatly on infrastructure works no one has done in the South East as Buhari has done. He (Buhari) completed the second Nigeri Bridge.

Though, there were other parts of Buhari – how he handles Bandidtory. Banditory became the order of the day after the fall of Boko Haram.

There are so many other things to say about his legacies – he did not do well on Federalism. So, there are mixed reactions to his legacies.
