Abuja UTC shop owners and traders at Garki Area 10 are to expected to relocate to a completed temporary site around the market area.
This is in line with the Union Trading Company (UTC) signed with Abuja Investment Company Limited for the Federal Capital Territory Administration and Urban Shelter Limited in 2021. The relocation will involve over 420 shop owners and traders.
Engr. Ayodele Kolawole, the Technical Coordinator of Urban Shelter Limited, disclosed this during the inspection of the temporary market site on 20th May 2023. Kolawole confirmed that all the necessary measures are in place for the relocation. He also said the UTC market building was becoming a threat to the lives of traders and customers.
The main reason for the relocation is to allow effect the plan of the FCT Minister to remodel the market to a good standard.
