90% Election Results Uploaded: Insights from IReV

Presidential election results for Nigeria are still being processed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 159,509 results from 176,846 polling units already uploaded on its website. This figure represents 90% of the total results from all the polling units. As of now, electronic transmission of results is still ongoing.

It was expected that INEC would upload the results on the day of the election, as promised by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. However, INEC came under criticism for its failure to upload the results to its viewing portal. This led to some parties’ agents walking out of the National Collation Centre on Monday.

As of Saturday, all the polling units’ results have not yet been uploaded on INEC’s website. According to the Commission, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, won with 8.8 million votes. The main opposition candidates in the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, received 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes, respectively.

Despite the delay in uploading the results, Nigerians are eager to know the final outcome of the election. The delay in the release of results has caused anxiety among the populace, and there have been calls for INEC to speed up the process.
